"Buyer Beware"
My 70 year old in-laws took out a small loan to carpet their house with
Mohawk Berber 4 years ago. Not only is their house impeccably clean and
cared for it also is a no pet, no children, non smoking house. This
carpeting was purchased through Lowe'S. But Mohawk has a bogus very
misleading warranty, which they will not honor. This carpet after 2
years is totally mashed down, the berber pattern is totally distorted,
the seams are frayed and it looks like complete crap. I have fought with
this company on behalf of my in-laws for 6 months and they refuse to do
anything at all even though this carpeting has a 40 year warranty. Even
the manager at Lowe's tried to fight for us because he acknowledged that
this carpeting just should not look like this already. I seriously warn
you to not purchase this product. Years ago Mohawk was a name you could
count on but that is just not the case anymore. My family and my friends
will never buy anything with the Mohawk name again.

"Everstrand from the Soft Collection"
Purchased Mohawk Everstrand from Home Depot in 2009 for almost $3000.00.
We purchased the carpet cleaning from Chem-Dry with the carpet purchase.
Approximately 4 months after the first professional cleaning I noticed
the carpet separating at all the seams and where the carpet meets other
flooring, eventually the carpet separated and looks horrible. I (after
many calls)got Home Depot to send someone from the installation company
out who determined the carpet was delaminating in multiple locations.
Home Depot will do nothing to help other than offer a credit toward new
carpet purchase but we are responsible for everything else. I will never
deal with Home Depot again as their customer service stinks and this
Mohawk carpet is nothing but cheap crap! Beware!!!

"Premium carpet, Premium price... Wal-Mart Quality"
I have never been more disappointed in a product than I have been with
my Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. I believe you get what you pay for, so
when it came time to purchase new carpeting for my home, I weighed the
options carefully. Having 2 dogs & a 2 year old, I decided to go with
a very expensive Mohawk carpet because I felt the warranty, quality
and stain-resistance were worth the price. Boy, do I feel duped. True,
it is very easy to clean and spills do come out completely but not
without leaving a mark. Any type of friction on this carpet creates
fuzz and long strands of unraveling. The only way I can compare it, is
like a nylon sweater in desperate need of a sweater shaver! After only
1 year, some parts are so fuzzy you can barely see the design in the
carpet. Reading the warranty information, it states that:
SmartStrand w/ Dupont Sorona Warranty
Lifetime Stain Resistance Warranty
Lifetime Soil Resistance Warranty
Lifetime Pet Urine Resistance Warranty
Lifetime Anti-Static Warranty
25-Year Abrasive Wear Warranty
25-Year Texture Retention Warranty
25-Year Fade-Resistance Warranty
25-Year Manufacturing Defects Warranty
30-Day Satisfaction Assurance Guarantee
Sounds great, right? WRONG! Make sure you read the fine print, after doing this I see that the company recommends
"Depending on the type of carpet you have, you?ll want to use a vacuum with a rotating brush, a beater bar or suction only. If you have shag carpet, use a suction?only vacuum cleaner with no beater bar."
Did I purchase shag carpeting, NO. I'm pretty sure shag carpeting would look better at this point than the stuff I have now. Anyway, apparently a suction only vacuum is recommended for MY type of carpet too... which I had NO idea about until my carpet already looked like a wire-haired terrier. Unfortunately, using only the suction does not remove hardly any dirt! So there are my 2 options; fuzz or dirt. Very disappointed. I would rather have my old carpet back. Considering ripping it all out and installing hardwood floors instead of dealing with this kind of problem ever again. I will not buy another Mohawk product. By far the biggest waste of money I have EVER spent.

"Shedding Carpet - So disgusting!!"
We have had our new carpet in for a week and have more carpet come up
than 10 years of our previous carpet. In a few hours of traffic it looks
like a matted up mess. We use a vacuum bag every time we vacuum. It
going to get replaced. One way or another!!!

"Defective carpet and didn't care"
I purchased Mohawk carpet from Lowes and the carpet shed worse than my
dog. The installation from Lowes was very good however they would not
always return my calls. Back to Mohawk. We took a sample and sent to
them and they said it was fine but will test again at 6 months. Really!
Carpet is suppose to loose strads at an alarming rate months after the
installation?! Once 6 months rolled around they were not interested in a
resolution. They would not respond. I'm surprised that Lowes had no
clout to get anything done. Save your money and do not buy Mohawk
carpet. It was a joke. Scratching my fingers 5 times lightly produced
plenty of strands. The vacuum would consistently get clogged and I was
going through bags at an alarming rate.

"Floor Sample vs. delivered product"
The Rodeo Drive II carpet I ordered from the sample at the dealer's
showroom does not match what I purchased and what was delivered...4
times we tried! Mohawk requested a piece of their sample and claim they
cannot match it - huh? It reminds me of a "bait and switch", this is
what we're offering, but this is what you're getting. Very frustrating
and not what I expected from a well-known company like Mohawk.

"Fibers come loose"
I carpeted my entire home with Mohawk carpet when I built 7 years ago.
We started noticing a large amount of dust on all our furniture almost
immediately after we moved into the house. We could dust all of our
furniture, and two days later we would have to dust again. Then I
started to notice that the dust was the same color as the carpet which
we installed. Also, the dust was made up of fibers. I wonder if these
fibers are also getting into my lungs? In addition, the carpet is
bunching up all over the house, and needs to be stretched. This is the
worst carpet that I have ever owned.

"MOHAWK CARPET AND FLOORING"
I'm going to continue to alert people how poor, dysfunctional and unreasonable mohawk carpet and roman furniture truly is... After all this time (3 years) my carpets have continued to degrade and you and roman ignore my complaints. I am not going away and I will continue to spread the word about mohawk and roman and how they do not stand behind their product! Do not buy from these 2 companies. If you have a problem they like to blame the customer for it. That is the easy way around your poor install. What a company? Oh, your lawyers do not scare me. Because I have my lawyers also, just the beginning. I'll be
back! Coleen Price Caramandi

"Frayed fibers in the carpet"
Purchased Mohawk carpet not quite two years ago. Had it put in living
room and hallway. I live alone and very little do I go in my living room
and have noticed wear where I have walked to open my blinds. The carpet
is fraying and matting. Looks awful like it is more than five years old
already. Was told from where I purchased the carpet that the only way
Mohawk would warranty the carpet and send an inspector out to see it
would be if I had it steam-cleaned by a professional and had the
paperwork on. Doesn't guarantee Mohawk would do anything about it. My
carpet is hardly walked on, not dirty enough to get it cleaned. Will not
buy Mohawk carpet again.

"Everstrand is made from recycle plastic bottles"
I bought carpet from Sears and they have proven to have poor consumer service. They can not find records and give very little info on carpet. I was a stupid fool to go along with this buy. Mohawk just redirects calls and disconnects. They do not care; they referred me back to Sears.
EverStrand is made from recycle plastic bottles. This carpet has shredded horribly for two months and so I had it professionally cleaned with clear water. I can no longer walk barefooted because it makes my feet itch. That is why one buys a carpet to walk on it.
Even though it is a green product I think the consumer is at risk from breathing in the loose residue.
Fortunately I can buy another carpet.
