"Warranty Fraud"
When we purchased our new construction home in August 2017, we had Mohawk Smart Strand carpeting installed. We not only had the carpeting professionally cleaned, but also cleaned the carpets ourselves with the carpet cleaning machine we own, several times over the two years we have lived here. In July of 2019 we opened a claim, because the primary backing of the carpet had separated from the secondary backing. We had the independent inspector come out and test the integrity of the carpet in several areas. He did say that he was finding a variance in the strength of the strand resistance, and took an unused sample of the carpet with him, to send to Mohawk. The inspector also used a black-light, and found NO evidence of urine on the carpet in any of the areas he inspected, proving that we were diligent owners in the care of our carpet, IMO. They denied my claim based on "environmental" reasoning, blaming the fact that we own two dogs, and that they must have urinated in the area where the adhesive failed. Here's the thing. Mohawk and Shaw manufacture 95+% of the carpeting sold in the United States. Their monopoly of the market, is why they can treat honest customers poorly, with NO worries about accountability. I can only hope that a class action suit is filed, that teaches them to treat customers fairly and with respect. My advice, is to avoid any Mohawk related flooring purchase. Their warranty, while 'flowery' and 'sparkely' as it may sound, is just a fraud to give you a false sense of protection.

"Defective carpet"
Mohawk does not stand behind their carpeting. We purchased our carpet from Home Depot and right off the bat there were problems. The Home Depot installers noticed the problem with the carpet and stopped the installation. The dye was inconsistent across the width of the carpet and at the seam there was a dark brown line running the length of my entire great room. Despite this terrible manufacturing defect, it took weeks to get Mohawk to send someone out to evaluate the carpet. Mohawk balked at replacing the carpet even though Home Depot and their own inspector said it was defective. I wish I had demanded a refund right then and there because the replacement carpet also has terrible discoloration due to defective dyeing. We recently moved to a new house and when we moved the furniture, the carpet underneath was a horrible orange color. The actual carpet is a neutral brown-taupe color. We couldn't believe it and neither could the realtor, the carpet cleaner, or the numerous people I have shown it to. Everyone says it is the strangest thing they have ever seen in their 20 years of experience. I contacted Home Depot and their customer service was woefully inadequate. The woman named Jenny Turner never returned a single phone call and repeatedly emailed me incorrect information. But as bad as Home Depot was, Mohawk was worse. Their customer support representative, Nancy Hamby, was extremely rude. I'm still shocked as I am not used being treated like that. She flat out refused to send an inspector to look at the carpet because I had not steam cleaned the carpet every 18 months. I explained that my husband and I live alone, have no pets, and never wear our street shoes indoors. I also told her that the carpet was fine everywhere we walked, the problem was discoloration underneath the furniture, including bookcases, and wouldn't have been steam cleaned anyway. She didn't listen at all. She also lied about never receiving the photos I sent, despite Home Depot having proof they'd sent them. I have emailed Mohawk customer service repeatedly and they do not respond. On top of all of this, I still have the first giant roll of carpet in my basement. Home Depot told me that Mohawk would retrieve it. It is 7.5 years later and they still have not picked it up despite my repeated requests that they do so. That is how responsive Mohawk is as a company. I strongly discourage people from doing business with them. For the record, my upstairs carpet was installed 9 years ago also by Home Depot. That carpet was manufactured by Shaw and it is still in excellent condition and received the exact same care as the Mohawk carpet downstairs. I say this so others who read this review will know that I am not a disgruntled customer who complains about everything. I hope this review spares someone from a similar awful experience I have had with Mohawk.

"Stay away from this product if you are sensitive to voc's."
Do no purchase this product if you have any kind of sensitivity. Their information is a lie and this carpet will make you sick! After weeks of research on air quality related to new carpets, and assurances that this product is Green Shield Plus Certified (meaning low voc and best air quality rating), I ordered this carpet to replace an existing one in my home. As I have an autoimmune disease it is very important that I avoid voc's. As soon as the installers brought it in I noticed the smell but was assured that it would dissipate quickly and not be a problem. I should have refused to allow them to install because I've had to move out of my home because after just a few hours this product was making me very sick. I had all the windows in the house open and fans running constantly and it is still so overwhelming that I can't even be in the house at all. I feel like I have to rip it out but am so angry and frustrated because I chose to spend the exorbitant amount for it and I can't afford to be flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet.

"Shoddy Quality. Poor Customer Service."
We had the carpeting in our family room replaced in Jan 2019 with the brand advertised as being highly durable and pet-friendly. It is neither. Set us back $3,000 because we got premium padding. Within a few days, pulls and strands appeared and only continued to get worse. It's balding in several places now. No help from the seller (Loews) nor the manufacturer (Mohawk) despite months of requests for help and information on warrantee. Loewe's decided that it was Mohawk's issue (who claimed there was no manufacturing defect). Loewe's installers did a poor job installing as well with huge spaces were the padding wasn't installed. And all we can do is tear it out, now. We'll never buy another Mohawk product and stopped shopping at Loewe's. Suggest you do the same.

"Very Disappointed"
Purchased Mohawk Vintage carpet in October. Had to move a 1200 lb grand piano up a stair to allow for install. Carpet installer did a great job. It was evening and everything looked fine. I brought in a crew to return the piano to place. The next morning, with light coming through the windows, it was discovered that the carpet was flawed throughout - lines from a "low row" every few inches, The company admitted it was a flaw, but was unwilling to do anything about the very expensive proposition of bringing in piano movers twice to remove and restore the piano. The offered a small amount of financial compensation. So I was faced with either shouldering the expense of moving a piano - again - twice, or accepting the 'compensation' and living with a flawed carpet. Either way, I get burned and the company walks from a problem that they should have seen if there had been adequate quality control on their end. Don't they look at this carpet before sending it out? Would not go with Mohawk ever again. (They responded to a consumer reports review saying I should take the matter up with the retailer. I've been waiting four months for the retailer to "look into it.")

"I'm an installer...."
Don't buy this product. The seams run out and are bowed 9 out of 10 times. The materials the rug is made from is cheap too, the carpet loves to let go and wrinkle all over, seams can't be done properly, the carpet will crush down and look 15 years old in 14 months on average, it will leave strings and the pile will come out often too. This company is garabge and the product they supply is also garbage. They will do there best to make it your problem and give you the run around. I've been dealing with them for around 3 years now and it's gotten to the point where most crews at our shop have now stopped installing this companies trash due to it's a waste of fabric and mohawk will screw the installer and home owner over. I wouldn't install this on a cat scratch post even.

"Waste of money. Do not purchase."
Purchased "pet proof" carpet. Pet accidents absorb into the backing immediately and carpeting is impossible to clean. The odor and urine remain trapped even after spending money on professional cleaning. Mohawk, conveniently, will not cover this. Misleading, dishonest representation of product. Very disappointed in Mohawk. Complete waste of money.

"Junk"
The company won't back up their carpet. We had two inspections one by a man they sent both people said the carpet was no good and they still won't do anything about it. Don't buy it!

"Yarn stands started coming out at 13 months"
We purchased three area rugs and of course the problem began to be a big problem at 13 months (warranty expired). We had hoped that Mohawk would do the right thing and replace our area carpets. They blew us off entirely. We have other lesser know brands of area in the house that are twice and three times as old that have never had so much as one strand of material come out. As others have stated above avoid mohawk carpet it (at least ours is) is garbage. There are two people living in our house and we have no pets. We have never cleaned the rugs because we have not trashed them. The vacuum we use is not rough on the carpets either, no beater bar. Mohawk has no excuse for making such poor quality carpets, will never buy Mohawk again.

"Do not purchase"
I am being nice--giving it 2 stars. I have had this carpet for about 9 years. The color has faded at least 3-4 shades lighter than the original color. It does need constant vacuuming and it lacks the oomph that sellers portray in advertising. I can not wait to replace this eye sore.
