"Poor quality"
Installed whole house in April of 2011. In May the carpet had started to
mat. The fibers appeared to melt together as though it had not cured
before weaving into carpet. I/we immediately reported this to the local
dealer along with pictures. They said they would take this under
consideration. We than asked to see the local salesperson from Shaw. We
were told that this was not allowed. We than got the phone number for
Shaw and explained the problem. We were told we had to vacuum daily.
This did not work. Finally Shaw sent in an independent party to do an
evaluation. Long story short, the carpet was replaced, but not with the
carpet we chose. I might add that when we chose the carpet we stated we
wanted it to be of a quality to allow for wheelchair use. We were
preparing the house for handicap use if needed. Shaw has a display
stating the carpet would work for this but when we called Shaw we were
told that the carpet would not stand up to that use.

"Do not buy Shaw Carpet!"
Buyer beware! Do not buy Shaw carpet. There warranty means nothing. They
are worse then insurance companies. The carpet started to Wrinkle
everywhere within the first year. They try and blame the installer. The
installer came back and stretched it three times over the last six
years. But they still blame installation. Then how come my basement
carpet isn't wrinkling?.... Because its not shaw! Now they are saying
they are going to void our warranty because we didn't get it cleaned
regularly ... How were we suppose to clean it when it's wrinkled
everywhere. And as if the cleaning has anything to do with the carpet
wrinkling!!!!! Our carpet is perfectly clean. Shaw should give customers
written information on their obligations when buying carpet otherwise
how are people suppose to know. What a bunch of thiefs!

"Terrible Carpet"
We paid good money for "upgraded" carpeting from our homebuilder's
interior design company, Primera, for our new home. The Shaw carpet
started compacting after just 3 months. Now at 6 months there are places
where it will no longer vacuum upright. There are only two of us in the
house. Shaw company hired an inspector and determined there is nothing
abnormal and pile compaction is not a warranty item! We recommend not
buying Shaw carpet!

"Worst Rug"
Shaw rugs is one of the worst rugs I ever purchased. My rugs are 3
months old and are flatten to the the ground. No satisfaction at all
from the company. They sent inspector they hired, who further added
insult to injury, my pulling my carpet back to see what kind of padding
was under the rug and never tacked rug back down.

"Worst carpet/warranty EVER!"
Purchased a home with new carpeting that was Shaw brand. After the first
6 months in the home the carpet pilled and also came off in the vacuum
stringey stuff wrapping around the brushes. The company came out and did
an "assessment" only to come back saying it was fine. Well about another
year later it starts to stretch, and the carpet is looking like it is 10
yrs old now...only 4. And one person living in the house! This company,
nor the installers stand by their products. Do not buy from them or
Builders Flooring.

"Dishonest"
I am amazed at all the similar comments. We also had a sub contracter come out to evaluate our carpet. we purchased carpet in 2009 -- it looks like 1999. Was told by Shaw "normal wear and tear". In other words: I am crazy. Someone needs to become accountable for this sham. I will see what I can do how about all of you? This is unexceptable and dishonest. We bought our carpet at Home Depot. Maybe i will start there.

"Tin Cup"
I bought Shaw Flooring carpet from Carpet One in Utah. Had it installed
on 03/12/2011. I was told they have one of the "best" warranties. I had
3 requirements - furniture marks come out easily - cat puke stains come
out easily - and no wear patterns. Well I don't have marks from my
furniture and the cat puke stains come out - but I have wear patterns.
After have it inspected twice - and cleaned I was told this condition is
called "shading". This occurs where I walk frequently. To me this is a
wear pattern - and a bad lot of carpet. Shaw Flooring does not stand
behind their product and keeps producing crap. Carpet One has offered to
pay 75% of the cost for new carpet - does not have to be Shaw - but then
I'm into this carpet another $900-$1000. I paid much more than I had
planned because it was such a "good" product according to the salesman.
I will never buy Shaw Flooring again - I would definitely tell others to NOT buy their products!!
In this day when the economy is so bad you would think they would take care of their customers - but they don't - so if in the near future you hear of them going under - we know why!!

"great for 9 years now??"
I read C.R. and carefully looked for all the things they say to check
for quality. That probably helped us make it to 9 years with it looking
great. This year, 1 year before warranty is up, it's not perking up so
well after cleaning any more. Sounds good until you learn that great
carpets should be able to last much longer. My in-laws' carpets have
lasted much longer. We bought the high-end cut pile from Lowe's and top-of-the-
line pad (rubber). The rubber pad has been fantastic. Next time (in a
year or two) I think I'll try one of the higher end lines which may be a
bit more but if they last longer, should be cheaper in the long run. Oh,
and my carpet cleaner does keep turning up lots of fuz from the carpet.
It is still soft, though, color has stayed great, no problems with
stains (come out with carpet machine). The only complaint it that it's
matting more easily now. C.R. did say that it pays to put more into the
pad, not so much into the carpet (but not lowest quality, either). I'd
say I agree.

"Disappointed"
Did so much research and decided on Shaw for living room and hallway
installed October 2010. Here we are 16 months later and the color is
fading plus showing wear patterns. My windows are tinted and have
blinds. Light should not be fading the carpet. As for wear - the only
two in this house are my husband and myself (2 seniors). Very, very
upset and disillusioned. Had an 8lb smart pad installed as well.

"Shaw matting carpet"
We put Shaw carpet in our whole house in Sept. 2011. The carpet was
rated for 7/10 wear resistance and this wasn't the cheapest carpet by
any means. By Nov. we noticed matting, even in the closets! We called
the local dealer (Great Lakes Carpet and Tile), who had poor customer
communication and they simply said we needed to vaccum it 3-4
times/week! This didn't take care of the issue and after weeks of
trying to get something more done, an inspector came out in January.
After about 6 weeks, Shaw informed us that the matting was "normal
wear" and not warranty. When friends come over, they ask "Didn't you
get new carpet?' Because our 6 month old carpet looks like a 5 yr. Old
carpet! Absolutely terrible product, especially for the money we spent!
I will never buy anything from Shaw again. Terrible product; terrible
customer support!
