Avaire's interlocking porcelain tiles are designed to create a 'floating' floor: a surface that does not need to be attached at every point to the surface beneath it. This system creates a floor that is more likely to withstand long-term changes to the structure around it.

Styles

Avaire has three main collections:

Select tiles are 18" square and come with a 20-year warranty. They come in five colors, which are stony but bright.

Choice tiles are 12" or 6" square and have a 10-year warranty. These have the largest range of color options.

The Standard tiles are 12" square and have a 5-year warranty. These are available in four colors: Alpine, Odessa, Santa Fe, and Sedona.

Choice and Select tiles can be used together to create combinations with each other. Standard tiles can be used in combination only with other Standard tiles.

Installation

Avaire tiles can be installed over imperfect subfloors. It's a good idea to make the substrate as smooth as possible before installing a floating floor above it. The Avaire floors can be installed above subfloors that have experienced cracks or water damage, although it is a good idea to investigate the source of this damage before installing another floor, to avoid further complications.

Homeowners can hire a professional installer or do the jobs themselves. The system of interlocking tiles decreases the risk of error associated with doing the job yourself. The tiles click together and then receive a secondary layer of grout to cover the seam.

Avaire floors can be taken apart and reassembled in another location; all that needs to be removed for easy dismantling is the grout.

Specifications

All Avaire tiles are the same thickness and (per area) weight. They are 9/16" thick and weigh 4.5 lbs per square foot. Grout joints are 1/4" thick.
