"Read before you purchase a Foresfloor/Foresbec hardwood floor"
If you are thinking about buying a Foresfloor/Foresbec hardwood floor please read this first. I have had a nightmare of an experience with this company and their product. When I moved into my new home I wanted hardwood floors throughout my entire house, so I did my research and decided to go with pre-finished hardwood floors. I went to Gold Coast flooring in Hicksville and was told by one of their sales representatives, Steven Rockfeld, to go with oak pre-finished Foresfloors/Foresbec because they were the ?best? (and most expensive). I spent $7 a square foot, not including installation or nosing. I wanted pine, but was told that I was better off going with oak because oak was a very hard wood. As soon as they were being installed I noticed hair-line cracks in a very large number of the wood planks, but was told that that was what happens to pre-finished floors sometimes. However, I called Steven Rockfeld and told him about the cracks and he said he would look into it, but I had no choice but to have them keep installing the floors since they had already begun. Time went by and I did not hear anything back from Gold Coast. I then paid $250 to replace a few boards that I could not live with. Since then my family has been through an absolute nightmare with these floors. My kids, husband, and I always take our shoes off and we are careful with everything we do because the slightest thing puts scratches and dents into my very soft floors. We feel like we are walking on egg shells. Then Thanksgiving 2011 was the icing on the cake. Someone must have had a small pebble in their shoe and my floors are now ?destroyed?! There are now thousands of little pebble sized holes/dents throughout the entire house. I immediately pursued the situation by calling Steven Rockfeld from Gold Coast who then came to look at my floors. He said that he never saw such damage before (even in his showroom), not to mention his disbelief in the cracks. He told me to contact Margaret Bartlam from the Foresfloor company, and she was rude and not helpful. I was told by Steven that dents would be covered under my warranty only if the finish was defective (which he did believe was the situation), but the cracks definitely were covered under warranty. Margaret sent a person from the Foresfloor company who was angry and annoyed to be at my home, and he did not even take 5 minutes to really acknowledge the problem in front of him. A few weeks later I was sent a letter saying the cracks were due to too much humidity in my home and the finish on my floors were fine. I was appalled because I have central air and have never had an ounce of humidity in my home ever and it is apparent to anyone who sees my floors that the finish or the wood is defective in one way or another!! Obviously, they are not standing behind their warranty on the floors I spent $15,778.49, again not including installation. Please do not go with this company because you will be incredibly disappointed and out of a lot of money!! I believe I would have gotten more respect and customer service if I would have went to Home Depot to purchase my floors. Foresfloor/Foresbec company does not stand behind their product or warranty!!!

"The Best Wood Floor fol Less"
Founded in 1984 by Donald Sprenkle, Jr., Aged Woods was built around the premise of providing customers with quality recycled flooring through modern marketing techniques. In April of 1986, Jeffrey Horn became a partner and vice president and later went on to become the sole shareholder and current President. In November of 2001, the company began doing business as (DBA) Yesteryear Floorworks Company. Their intent was to expand into the non-recycled wood flooring products market while continuing to promote the Aged Woods reclaimed hardwood brand that customers have grown to desire in their homes. Aged Woods' sales area covers a large area throughout the world. Internationally, the company's sales extend to locations in Israel, Singapore, England, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. While their products have traditionally been usd in residential application, their fastest growing market is commercial hardwood flooring. Wood Flooring Products The majority of the flooring options from Aged Woods are retrieved from agricultural out-buildings, e.g. barns, which stood from between 75 and 200 years. Some other planks are comprised of virgin forest trees that were alive when our ancestors arrived ??" which in turn creates a tighter grain in the end product. The company divides their Aged Woods planks into Antique and Antique Distressed product lines to denote of the varying degrees of weathering that the flooring has achieved over its lifetime. In their Yesteryear brand flooring line, the company offers selected, recently yielded wood available in wide widths and long lengths that are not possible with their reclaimed woods. Some of the species they offer in the Aged Woods line include: American Chestnut Antique Maple Antique Heartpine Antique Hickory Antique Distressed White Pine Antique Distressed Yellow Pine Red Oak Southern Yellow Pine White Oak Some of the species offered in the Yesteryear Floorworks line include: American Black Walnut American Cherry Eastern White Pine Hickory Red Oak White Oak Wormy Red Oak
