"What a Disappointment!"
We've had Armstrong composite wood flooring for 9 years - it was aleady installed (new) when we bought the house. I've never liked it, and since then my opinion has not changed. The first problem is that it looks very artificial. There is a pattern in the flooring that is supposed to make it look like a real wooden floor, but this is overshadowed by the rectangular shape of the panels. What you see are all the individual rectangles of the flooring and the joints where they connect, not the pattern in the wood. The second issue is that it makes a kind of hollow sound when you walk on it. It just doesn't give the feeling of a wooden floor and feels very artificial. The last issue is that it is not very durable. The area around our guest toilet started to de-laminate after about 2 years and looks really bad. There are also a couple of areas where chips were knocked out of the flooring, showing the composite board underneath. All in all, I would not recommend this product. We are going to replace it soon, and will be getting solid wood flooring instead.

"Easy to clean Armstrong Wood Floors"
We had Armstrong wood floors installed over this past summer, and I have been very pleased with the result. For one thing, cleaning my floors these past 4 months has been so much easier. When we moved into our new home, the previous owners had dogs and the dander and smell was permanently embedded in the carpet. I was constantly sneezing and vacuuming. After looking at all of our options, we decided on wood flooring over tile or carpet because it had the look we wanted and seemed to be a quicker install and less maintenance in the long run. I really like that I can just run a dust mop over them in the evening before I go to bed and wake up a nice clean floor. I also like that they are strong enough to put up with the constant clutter and mess of my two dogs and two kids, although both the kids and the dogs seem to have a problem getting traction as they run through the house. The only issue we had was the warping of a few boards in one of the corners. This was due to a spillage from my dishwasher and the water apparently got under the wood and I was unable to clean it up. Other than that, there have been no problems. I would recommend Armstrong floors to anyone who is looking at flooring options.

"Armstrong Brazilian Tiger Wood"
I installed the Armstrong Brazilian Tiger Wood engineered floor about a year ago, and it is holding up fairly well. It was fairly easy to install, and I am fairly pleased with the product. There are many scratches and chips, which are very visible on the smooth surface, but that is to be expected when you have pets and a small child. The dark color shows every little speck of dust and dirt, and that could be considered a good, or a bad thing. The dark color does make it easy to repair damaged areas, because the color of a black permanent marker fits right into the color pallete. I have noticed a few boards that have a defective finish, and the only repair for that is replacement. I would buy from this manufacturer again, but I think I will buy something with a chiseled texture to help hide imperfections.

"Wonderful Benefits of Wood Flooring"
I have had my Armstrong Laminate Flooring (Oak) for about 3 years. After going to an allergist, I was told I had dust mite allergies, and removing all carpeting in the house, especially the bedroom I slept in, would greatly reduce my symptoms. Since I am in the engineering industry, I was able to get advice from various construction company owners on what types of wood flooring are best. It was recommended I try Armstrong Laminate, and so I researched and found relatively happy customer reviews. I had the wood flooring installed in my bedroom 3 years ago. Two months later, I decided to have all the carpeting in my entire upper floor (which includes 3 bedrooms+ long hallway) done! Since I was luckily very satisfied with the current wood flooring in my bedroom, I was more than happy to use the same wood flooring brand, style, and color on the entire upper floor (which worked out nicely because the entire floor was able to match). A combination of the pricing of the wood and the discounted labor costs due to hiring construction workers I frequently worked with, I decided to get the same wood flooring done to the entire main floor (which includes kitchen, study room, dining room + hallways in between)! To complete the project, I decided to also put wood floor on the stairs that take you from the main floor to the upper floor as well as the stairs that go from the basement to the main floor. To date, 90% of my house is wood floor! The only carpet we currently have in our home is in the basement. The only repair we have had to do a tiny piece (about 4-5 wood panels worth) under the island in the kitchen. These couple pieces of wood started to discolor and started standing out. Since this was in the kitchen (clearly visible area), and we still had half an extra box left over (from the extra material ordered to accommodate for mistakes), I decided to get it repaired. The re-installation went very smoothly. It took the workers 6-7 hours to remove the old wood and nail in the new wood. This happened about 1 year after the installation, and luckily we have not had any problems since! I love the Armstrong Laminate Flooring brand for many reasons. First, the maintenance is much easier than carpet. I use a combination of Pledge + water and a normal mop to clean the wood floor weekly and the smell and shiny look really liven up the house. I am very impressed that after 3 years, the wood flooring still maintains it's same coloring and sturdiness. The only thing I can say I dislike about the wood flooring is that now that it is wintertime, it can get a little cold walking on them. I would mostly definitely buy the same brand if I decide in the future to put wood flooring in my basement and would without hesitation recommend this brand to friends.

"Great acoustics Yet Slippery Wooden Floors"
I have owned Armstrong wooden floors for one year in my studio apartment. Wooden flooring has both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that they are very east to clean, if you have a simple mop or even paper towels. Just spray on your favorite brand of cleaner, and wipe the floor down. You can literally see if the floor is clean, or if there is any dirt or grime left. Wooden floors are also excellent if you have allergies, as they do not give off any dust, particles, or fibers which can cause asthma or any other types of respiratory problems. I have found that my floors also make my room into a great place to sing. Something about the natural resonance of the wood makes me sound better when I sing on wooden floors than on carpet. There are disadvantages to wooden floors as well. For one, they can get slippery, and for the young children and elderly, this can be a problem, especially if they fall. In addition, the feel of wood on your feet is not usually as comfortable as the soft carpeting that we are used to. The wooden floor can be a bit slippery and cold as compared to carpet. So far, I have not had to repair my wooden flooring at all. The wood is in great quality, and you can spray on sealants which will preserve your wooden flooring for years to come. In conclusion, I believe that wooden flooring has both advantages and disadvantages, and I would recommend that one take a look at their needs to see if the benefits outweigh the costs.
