"Awful experience"
I purchased a natural maple hardwood 4 yrs ago, which was returned due to the color being totally different from the 8x 10 sample I got from the store. The sample had a light monochromatic color. The wood sent was a combo of light, medium and dark colors. I showed them to the distributor and he agreed it was nothing like the sample n the showroom, He called Columbia and they were unwilling to return the product or exchange it, my distributor ended up dropping their brand completely and gave me a well reviewed hardwood n the natural maple color I wanted. It cost slightly more, but was given a good discount. From other reviews, I'm glad it was never put down on my floor.
For reference, I used Mirage hardwood which had little waste, an even tone which I wanted and looks great. I have big dogs, and it has worn well w the Abuse the floor gets. I definitely Don't recommend Columbia brand hardwood.

"Columbia Flooring is terrible quality & even worse service"
We purchased Columbia Flooring through our builder at Church's lumber in Lapeer MI. The floors cupped terribly. Everyone thinks it was manufactured improperly. Both Columbia & Church's backed out on responsibility of guaranty. The manufacturer rep was argumentative and sarcastic. We spent $12,000 on this flooring material alone so it wasn't cheap. Our builder sanded it down to refinish it. It was a mess and we had to move out for a week as well as empty everything out of our house. It was a big expense & inconvenience. I do not recommend this company at all!

"Beautiful floor"
I purchased this flooring because it was the only one I found made in the U.S. I have not had any problems at all and it is in a kitchen which gets a lot of use. I have the almost white Ash and the style is Amelia. It is 5 years old. I get compliments on it all of the time. My kitchen is French country and it fits perfectly. My only complaint is that the filler that they used in crafting the wood was dark... unexpected but still nice. After reading the other reviews, perhaps the darker woods have more problems.

"3 months after install the finish cracked"
probably the worst investment ever
the floor was installed three months ago. the plastic-like finished has bubbled up along the edges of a few boards, turned opaque and cracked.
the company immediately tries to blame any defects on user error. if you try and take advantage of their so-called warranty, they will blame moisture or your pets. if they had pride in their product they would have offered a couple of boards so i could replace the damaged ones and i would have never googled to find out that the product is defective & the company doesn't care.
lucky me i can now look forward to having to refinish my brand new floor in a couple of years.

"Misrepresentation"
We purchased an engineered hardwood floor from Colombia based on a sample provided by the Columbia Representative. The product was purchased and the floor was being installed. The first day of installation after the installer left we were able to examine the floor and realized that the floor was not the same as the sample. We contacted our retailer, whom also agreed that the floor was different from the sample. The retailer then contacted the distributor and manufacturer, but we were told that it was too bad but that is the floor that was the floor that was ordered, no explanation why the sample differed from the actual product. We were told that we could only get a refund on the unlayed portion of the product. Still haven't decided how to proceed. But I would encourage any one interested in purchasing a Columbia product not to. I had read these reviews and did not heed these. Now we are paying the price. While we insisted on buying American, I would again encourage everyone not to purchase this American made product. The company does not stand by there product or address the consumers concerns.

"Defective flooring company would not stand behind."
Within a month of installation, we had a 'rippling' effect in the
finish. We asked that it be replaced, and factory rep who viewed it
agreed w/us. Then it went to the next level and we were denied
replacement. They claimed the 'humidity' in our home caused the
rippling. We had installed a humidity monitor and had adjusted home
humidity. They said our furnace was old, so had their excuse. We are
left with a $5k defective floor. Do not buy Columbia flooring.

"Engineered columbia Beckham wood flooring - Very Unsatisfactory"
This floor shows every foot print - scratches very, very easily. I am
single and live in a condo with small dog and very little traffic. What
a mistake buying this floor. Would never ever purchase this product
again. I am going to have to replace flooring as I cannot live with it.

"Horrible floors and Columbia does not stand behind product"
We purchased Columbia hardwood floors 2 years ago and have regretted it
every day. These floors were beautiful when first installed however we
quickly learned how easily they scratch. Within the first week, the were
scratched when our daughter played on the floor with a plastic Barbie
horse and scooted an empty plastic box across the floor. We cannot even
vacuum because the plastic wheels scratch them with every turn. Columbia
sent a Rep to check the floors. He left a small piece of tape on each
scratch and there were over 100 scratches (this was within 2 months of
installation). His report stated that the scratches were caused by the
'owner' and we were told that we must have rocks in our shoes. I assure
you that there are no rocks on the soles of our shoes. In addition to
scratching, the finish shows everything! We cannot walk barefoot on the
floor without leaving footprints. Within minutes of mopping with
recommended products, footprints and smudges can be seen. I supposed it
is also our fault that we walk on our floor. The quality of this finish
is so poor that it is truly unbelievable!

"Rip off"
It has not even been a year since this flooring has been installed. It
is cracked, dented, and/or chipped in over half of the floor. Cannot
even walk in bare feet on it. To make matters worse our neighbor
installed it and when he ran out he used the cut off edges from the
"waste". Company says it is moisture. What a laugh. We had a furnace man
out and he said that the moisture is not an issue in our home because if
it was as bad as the representative stated to cause the flooring to
crack, chip, and warp the windows would be molding. Would not buy it
again, would not recommend it, and will do everything to let people know
what a scam this company is running.

"Rediculous!"
I'm in the process of purchasing some matching wood flooring to
replace areas that were damaged. My research has uncovered it is an
Columbia engineered floor product. While searching the web, I stumbled
on this sight to hear what others thought of the companies products.
What I read was simply amazing! First of all, why did the people who
posted negative reviews ever decide on wood flooring? People install
wood flooring for various reasons but common sense tells you not to
use wood if:
- You have moisture condition above or below the area where the flooring is to be installed.
- you want something that can withstand extreme abuse.
- you don't want to pay a craftsmen to properly install the floor.
- there is a chance of constant water getting to the area (bathroom or kitchens).
- you don't want to care for your floor.
Etc, etc, etc........etc!
I could go I but I think I made my point. Why would an intelligent person expect Columbia Flooring to cover the warranty for the various complaints that were posted? I didn't read a single one that had a valid claim. The one whose floor was ruined by their pets was the best. You have to make decisions about floor products for your home based on the facts of your situation. You also need to understand wood is easily altered by moisture, it cracks, it dents, it scratches!
Get a reality check and stop wasting the companies time with your ridiculous problems.
