"Claims"
The beautiful and very expensive carpet was easily stained. After contacting two different carpet cleaners, the stains remained. We proceeded to file a claim to have the carpet replaced and it was a circus. StainMaster blamed Lowes for sending in a very small carpet piece that would cover only the section of the carpet that was stained instead of replacing the whole room. It turned out it was their CPO who thought the master bedroom was 12 X 13 - maybe in a doll house? We couldn't file a new claim until Lowes took responsibility for their mistake and paid for the 12 x 13 piece that was sent. However, Lowes had done nothing wrong. You would think that when you pay so much money for a carpet you would get better customer service. What a horrible experience!

"Buyer Beware"
It's junk. StainMaster plays a good game. The carpet needs to be professionally cleaned and it's only been 6 months. Two people and two dogs in a 2900 sq/ft house.
The old carpet was 22 years old after many animals and 6 people in the house.

"Great Carpet"
I had Stainmaster carpet installed on my stairs 4 years ago and it still looks great. I had the Stainmaster essentials, polyester carpet installed, and was worried about heavy wear on the stairs, but it has held up great with 3 adults and a 100 lb dog going up and down every day. Thought I would need to replace and was going to upgrade to PetProtect (which came out about a month after I had mine installed) but so far so good. I would definitely purchase again.

"What a rip off"
My husband and I are senior citizens with two small dogs. This carpet after just about three years started showing waves, or buckles throughout the house. It looks old and matted. We purchased this carpet at Lowes and when I tried to complain got nothing but the runaround. An installer from their team showed up and said it was buckled because of one of three reasons. Saturated carpet, climate control, and moving heavy furniture. We have never had saturated carpet, we have central air and heat, and we paid the installers from Lowes to move our furniture during their installation. He then said it was an installation problem, and the year warranty was up. Stay away from Lowes and Stainmaster

"It's not just the fiber causing poor reviews!"
Reading these reviews, it is my professional opinion that to say these apply directly to Stainmaster carpets is misleading. Stainmaster is the manufacturer who produces the fiber. The fiber is made into carpet by manufacturers who purchase the fiber and the right to call it Stainmaster. Many other manufacturer processes weigh into the durability of carpet. In other words there can be inexpensively made Stainmaster carpets and there are better made Stainmaster carpets.
More importantly, I can bet that most of the cleaning issues relate to too much cleaning product (particularly soap) being used and not thoroughly rinsed out. Soap should be used in minute amounts... like one teaspoon to a gallon of water. Most stains can be blotted up and rinsed with water with NO additional product and this should be the first course of action. Do not pull out the heavy guns unless absolutely necessary. I have personally tested this on many of the carpets I sell. I pour liquids right on top and look for them to bead up and not soak in immediately. This buys you time to blot up. Even so-called professional cleaners have been known to wreck havoc on my customers carpets by using too much soap. We have had brand new carpet stained by a contractor who then had it professionally cleaned and stain returned even worse. Carpet was tested and it was loaded with surfactant (soap). Cleaning products not completely rinsed out of carpet become dirt magnets and totally negate the built in stain protection!
Stainmaster fiber is the strongest synthetic fiber used in making carpets, a 6,6 nylon, which was developed for things like parachutes, etc. But how you use the fiber to make a carpet is just as important and proper maintenance even more so!
Full disclosure- I am an owner of an independent flooring/carpet store who has done her research. I sell carpets made of every fiber available. They all have their pros and cons. Construction of the carpet is just as important as the fiber. Remember, it is fabric just like clothes.

"Do Not Buy!"
Carpet will stain! I had sears come and do a professional cleaning after our dog was ill to clean a small area of urine and vomit. After a week the stains came back. I talked to petmaster about the problem. They said it's in the padding not the carpet. They didn't even send someone out to inspect. So there's no way to make a claim if the company is only going to pass the buck. Forget the warrenty. Pet Master will only blame it on the padding and not hold to their promises! I will never purchase this or any other product their company has their hands in! Thanks for the added expense

"Junk carpet at lowes with no representation"
Lowes installed whole house StainMaster carpet with matching pad. After 2 years the carpet started to stretch & get big humps. Lowes claimed it was their installers & restretched it claiming they would take care of it if it happened again. The carpet looks worse now then before. Even the closets. After 6 months of talking to Lowes they won't take care of it. Shame on you Lowes. I am 65years old & it's not easy to move all that furniture. Should of been replaced. Now I still need carpet. Not StainMaster. Not from Lowes.

"Phenix Flooring"
Horrible carpet. Started to wear in 6 mths. 2 yrs old now and it is matted, has severe ruts. Carpet inspector came out and says there is no defect with the carpet. In the process of dealing with the retailer about replacement. The carpet is in the bedroom and we are are snowbirds. Horrible experience and inconvenience

"Do not buy"
We are having this carpet replaced after only a few weeks. The texture is such that simply walking on it leaves indentations that make the carpet look dirty. The pattern cannot be matched perfectly when laid. Although it is produced for homes with pets, my little dog's collar got caught in the carpet's fiber and he could have been injured if we had not been there to free him. This event caused the carpet to snag.

"Worn just after months of light use"
The carpet looked old just a few months after light use, matted in many places - they said that this is not covered under warranty.
